GFBC exists to present every person mature in Christ, expressed through the community of our local assembly to the world around us.
Our love for God compels us to be guided by His Word in how we live as His People in community, seek to be changed in becoming Christ-like, and to show God’s love and proclaim His saving grace through Jesus to our community and around the world.
We are God-centered, Bible-guided, Community-oriented, Life-change-focused and Missions Driven. A more complete overview of our core values is available.
Our complete doctrinal statement is available.
I have been blessed to serve God, this church and our community as pastor since 2001. I accepted Christ while in the Navy as a young man and was discipled through the Navigators and Cadence International. God called me to serve Him vocationally in my early twenties and I have been pressing on ever since to do His work. Schooling has taken me to get degrees at San Diego State University and Western Seminary. I’ve served at two other churches as pastor and also presently serve in Gladstone as a chaplain for the Police Department. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Tracy since 1983 and we have three beautiful daughters, Emily, Annelise and Olivia. Besides loving to hang out with my family, I’m into running with my golden retriever, Chester, playing racquetball, backpacking, eating exotic foods (crawfish, raw oysters and sea urchin for starters!) and traveling with my family to way out places.
Michelle Leach, Children’s Ministry Director
Hi! My name is Michelle Leach and I am honored to be the Children’s Ministry Director. I have been a part of this church family since the fall of 1987. I know – that was a long time ago! At that time, I was a student at Multnomah School of the Bible (currently Multnomah University), was engaged to Jeff Leach, and we got married at Gfbc on May 21, 1988. We will soon celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. He works from home as a software developer. Our oldest daughter, Marissa (20), married Jason Earl here at the church on May 28th, 2016! She is expecting their first baby July 6, 2017! We have raised our children in the Gladstone Public School District. We acquired another daughter, Alana (19), who has lived with us since she was a sophomore at Gladstone High School. Currently, Alana is in LaGrange, WY, attending Frontier School of the Bible. Erica (18) is in Schladming, Austria, working as an au pair for an adorable little two-year old boy. She attended Tauernhof Bible School there in Schladming from September -December, 2016. She plans to return June 2017 and attend Portland State University in the fall. Our two other children are Trevor (14) & Cynthia (12). They are attending Kraxberger Middle School. I am also a Registered Nurse. I have little “spare time”, lol, but love playing the piano, reading and writing notes of encouragement. At home, we have one large dog, two cats, two rabbits and nine tropical fish. I have been involved in AWANA for 21 years, and have been the Sparks Director since 2005. I love working with the children and have a passion for helping grow the next generation of church leaders. Please, let me know how I can help you raise your children to love and serve God. 🙂
My name is Michael Calquhoun and I was born and raised in Olympia, WA. I graduated from Multnomah Bible College in May of 2007 with a Bachelors of Science, double major in Bible/Theology, and Youth Ministry. I was married to my beautiful wife, Lynae in September, 2008. We have one daughter (Eliana) who was born in May of 2016! Lynae has her certification in Dental Assisting and is currently a full-time mom! It is a privilege and a joy to serve together in Youth Ministry! I have been here at GFBC since July of 2014 and love serving here. I enjoy spending time with people, playing games, watching movies, and operating anything that has an engine. I also enjoy trying interesting new foods, but cheese and asparagus are my favorite!
I am so thankful that I have been able to be a teacher and Director at Sonshine Preschool for the last 11 years. I have been married for 23 years to Brad, and have a 19-year-old son, Cody, who is currently attending school in Los Angeles. Our family loves watching movies, going to the beach, camping and hiking together in our free time. Now that my husband and I are empty nesters, I am sure we will be coming up with plenty of new hobbies and will discover new things that we like to do together. Most of my life I have loved to read, sing and hang out with girlfriends. Someday I will be able to go to Disneyland again, and I will not be sad every time that one of our students gets to go and I do not fit into their luggage. I truly have a heart for all of our kids that attend Sonshine Preschool. I could not ask for a better job. Watching them learn and grow as the year goes on is so rewarding, and I am so thankful to be able to be their teacher. It is wonderful to be able to offer a great education for the early preschool years, as well as encouraging their social skills and love for Jesus. I also enjoy organizing and facilitating the preschool program from an administrative standpoint. It is great to see so many parents that have such a strong desire to equip their kids for today’s culture. I am blessed to be able to guide and encourage them through this time.
It was my privilege to accept this position as Office Administrator in 2015. My family came to GFBC in 1997. We immediately became actively involved with Children and Youth ministries, all the while raising our 4 daughters. I grew up in Portland and my husband, Mike and I, have raised our family in Milwaukie. Missions has always been a part of our families lives. Our parents set a great example of how to support missions as “senders” and care and concern while they are home. My greatest pleasure comes when I personally am able to serve along side our Extended Staff. I am also the very proud grandparent of 4 beautiful grandbabies that I love to spend time with.
I am so excited to be the front office of GFBC! Stop by anytime just to say hi.

Everyone wants to “belong” and have a sense of connection with other people. That’s because God created us to be relational with Himself and each other. The Bible speaks of God’s people as “brothers and sisters” and “family.” Because of this, we at GFBC desire to create an environment where people can find true, authentic community and develop friendships that are loving, caring and meaningful. We may not be perfect at this, but this is what we strive to become and be for all who come our way.

Where are you located?
We are located at 6125 Caldwell Road in Gladstone. Click HERE for a map.
What do you believe as a church?
You can read our vision, core values and doctrinal statement on this page under Our Philosophy.
Do I need to dress up to attend your church?
You’re welcome to come as you are!
What is the music like?
As those who have come to know God’s forgiveness, we love to sing His praises. Together, as a church, we want to give glory to God for the grace He has shown to us through Jesus Christ. We do this through a blend of praise and worship songs, songs you hear on the radio, hymns that have been sung for centuries, as well as contemporary choruses–all declaring the truth of Who God is and what He has done. While we have a variety of musicians and vocalists assisting us, the main “instrument” of our singing is the congregation, as we lift our collective voices together in worship to God.
How long does your service usually last?
Our worship service is from 10:30a to 11:45a. On occasion we may go a little over.
Will I be asked to give money?
Every Sunday we have an offering that is passed around so that our regular attenders have the opportunity to give. It is important to us that you don’t feel like you have to give. In fact, we ask our visitors to just let the offering pass by. We want you to come and enjoy your time with us and not feel any pressure to give money. We’re just glad you came.
Is there something for my kids?
Absolutely! We love kids and put a great deal of time and energy into creating an environment where they can learn, grow and connect to Jesus in a real and relevant way.
Will my un-churched friends feel comfortable?
Yes. Ours is a comfortable, welcoming environment where all are accepted and loved.
Is it easy to get connected at Gladstone First Baptist Church?
Whether it’s joining a community life group with others, getting involved in a church ministry, getting involved with any of our regular service projects in the community, or being involved with Missions, we make getting connected incredibly easy.
