2019 GFBC Men’s Retreat

Apr. 26- 28, 2019

“Life As Mission”

Location: Camp Tadmor, above Lebanon in the Foothills of the Cascades

Speaker: Taylor Reavely serves as the Worship Director at New Life Church. In addition to his musical leadership, he leads ReGeneration, a young adult community, engaging students at Clackamas Community College.  Having recently graduated from Western Seminary, Taylor is excited about planting churches in the greater Portland area.   Our teaching topic this weekend is: “Life As Mission.”  The world around us is changing, and the 21st century Church—particularly in the Pacific Northwest—is faced with new and unique obstacles and opportunities. Jesus calls every Christian to “as they go” live as disciple-making missionaries. We’ll aim to live every aspect of our lives as missionaries, something we will best accomplish as we do that together through a variety of rhythms.  Come prepared to be challenged, have fun, ready to change and grow.

Dates: April 26-28, 2018 (Friday night through Sunday morning, see the Schedule for details!)

Who Should Come?  Men of all ages, from just under middle school age (yes, grade school boys with their dads are ok) on up to old dudes!  You will not want to miss this one, we are going to have a great time together!

Sessions: Besides our great and challenging speaker, we’ll have the Men’s Retreat Worship and Music Team, a special time of communion, small group breakouts and other elements to make our time together on the mountain a time of fellowship and growth.

Activities: Camp Tadmor has lots of activities open to us, including: disk golf, basketball court, board game contests, movie night, rifle range (bring your own gun (pistols up to .45 and no rifles except .22 or shotgun for the trap shooting range), ammo, shooting glasses and hearing protection), and other activities.  We will have contests and awards given out for the following activities: Disk golf tournament (best ball shotgun start with 4-5 man teams), Rifle Range target shooting contest, and more!  Bring your favorite board games for two late evenings of game play and we will vote on the movies to play on movie nights if we show any (bring DVDs of your favorites).  If you have suggestions or requests for other activities, talk with Don Megrath or Bruce Wadsworth.

Accommodations: We will be staying in the Tadmor Lakeside Retreat Center (near Lake Tadmor).  Most of the rooms are set up as five person rooms.  We can fit up to 48 people in the bunks and rooms of this facility.  Registration for rooms is on a first fully-paid basis.

Food: We are going to load up on hearty meals each day so you have energy to burn off in the activities we are planning, starting with Dinner on Friday.  We make no firm commitment to this menu for 2019, as culinary experts may override this menu with something even better!  Samples from the menu in the past are – dinner 1)  Hamburger/Hotdogs and dinner 2) Lasagna,  both with the a full complement of side dishes to fill you up.  Breakfast 1) Pancakes, ham, eggs and fruit.  Breakfast 2) Oatmeal, bacon and/or sausage, eggs and fruit.  Lunch 1): Chilidogs, hotdogs, sub sandwiches (beef, turkey or leftover ham), and complimentary side dishes.  Also, hearty, sweet and (sometimes) healthy snacks each night!  The best part is that we are going to be our own cooks, with everyone pitching in for at least one shift of cooking and at least one shift of cleanup!

Cost: $90.00 for full registration.  There may be a small extra charge for rifle range access (TBD).
